Bowen Technique

What is the Bowen Technique?
Bowen is a form of soft-tissue bodywork that addresses both the musculoskeletal
and internal organ systems. The technique involves specific sequences of rolling
moves over muscles, tendons, nerves and connective tissue. There are important pauses
between each series of moves when the therapist leaves the room to allow the body
to integrate the treatment it has received.
What is Bowen used for?
- Pain – sciatica, carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder, TMJ syndrome, acute sprains
and strains, migraines, repetitive strain, knee/back/ankle pain
- Skeletal misalignment – scoliosis, pelvic rotation
- Respiratory issues – asthma, hay fever
- Digestive issues – IBS, constipation, indigestion
- Children – colic in infants, bedwetting
Are there any safety concerns?
Bowen is a very safe, non-invasive and deeply relaxing technique. It can be used
to treat everyone from infants to elderly people.
How long does it take?
Most treatments take about an hour. Treatments are generally scheduled one week
apart and most people notice significant improvement within 3 – 5 sessions.
